Wandering Thoughts
It's 4 a.m. and I can't sleep. My mind is spinning and I can't get it to stop. I hate when that happens. I ran into someone last night that I hadn't seen in a long time and the meeting stirred up a lot of unpleasant memories that I have been trying to bury and forget about. The whole thing got me thinking and one thing leads to another and now I am feeling rather miserable and restless. I wish there was a switch in my brain that I could flip and turn my mind off when this happens. It's so exhausting! Fortunately my daughter and DH don't suffer from this type of "ruminating syndrome," as I like to call it. I am envious of them that they have peaceful minds which they can turn off at will. Does this ever happen to you?
Yes, unfortunately, it happens to me too.... If you figure out where that switch is... please let me know. I need a brain shut off valve. What do you do when that happens? We are moving back home after 15 years and I know it will happen..The thing I think I dread the most about the move... Hope today is better. Love the pic btw.
ReplyDeleteUgh, I see you had to throw in the blog towel. Sorry but I like the banner up there Jeanne!
ReplyDeleteI sure know how it feels to ruminate and give up that precious sleep. Last night I read til 1 and then still couldn't sleep. Another restless night and a day filled with things to do. I hope you can find some peace and get caught up. I hate when the bad memories haunt us...
HUGS
Jeanne, I know just what you are going through. If you are like me you have replayed the secenario over and over. Thinking of what you should or shouldn't have said. There is a great quote on a Mary Englebreit card. Worrying does not empty tomorrow of it troubles. It empties today of its strength. I try to always remember this. My daughter once told me she doesn't have to worry or get upset about things, cause she knows I will do it for her. Hopefully you will soon be able to put this behind.
ReplyDeletePS I have become the Rosette Queen
You are not alone! I have been there many nights. It always seems to happen when I have to be at work the next day. LOL Never on days off! You get up exhausted and it makes for a VERY LONG day!
ReplyDeleteJeanne, You know I think it is a woman thing. There are so many things going on in our lives that our brain just doesn't switch off. Men just close their eyes - off to sleep and their brain shuts down too.
ReplyDeleteTake care Alison
ALL...THE...TIME! I think it is one of the curses of being an imaginative, creative person...your brain is always on "on". I was really bad while pregnant with both of my kids...then exhaustion kicked in, and I tend to get a little more sleep these days LOL
ReplyDeleteLove your new banner, by the way!
jeanne, yes, unfortunately i get bad cases of this also!
ReplyDeletesending you wishes for a peaceful night's slumber.
xo,
More than I like to admit! It's almost a craziness because you KNOW it's not rational! I think you did the best...state it and let the creativeness drive you forward! I love your art card and that adorable embrod/crochet sachet is my favorite! I don't know how to turn off the brain though. When I get like that I just let my mind do it, take a bath and have some pamper time...and write it out!(...and remember it does pass!)
ReplyDeleteI tend to do this as well. It seems like, sometimes, the brain just won't let you sleep when unpleasant things happen. But, maybe while we lay there awake it is a way for us to think things out. nita
